REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, the Maharatna CPSU under the aegis of the Ministry of Power, has successfully handed over two project-specific Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) pertaining to Intra-State Transmission Projects in the State of Maharashtra under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route on 09th January 2026.
Velgaon Power Transmission Limited
RECPDCL handed over Velgaon Power Transmission Limited, an SPV formed for an Intra-State Transmission Project of Maharashtra, to M/s Ceigall India Limited. Ceigall India Limited emerged as the successful bidder through the TBCB process conducted by RECPDCL, the Bid Process Coordinator, for development of the transmission project on a Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) basis.
The SPV was formally handed over by Shri Vijay Kulkarni, Senior General Manager & Head of Department (T&D), RECPDCL, to Dr. Sudhir Rao Hoshing, Whole-time Director, Ceigall India Limited, in the presence of senior officials of RECPDCL, Ceigall India Limited and Maharashtra STU. The implementation period of the project is 24 months.
The project broadly covers the establishment of a 400/220 kV Velgaon Substation (GIS) and LILO of 400 kV Double Circuit and 220 kV Double Circuit & Single Circuit lines at Velgaon Substation, along with other associated works.
Jejuri Hinjewadi Power Transmission Limited
On the same day, RECPDCL also handed over Jejuri Hinjewadi Power Transmission Limited, another SPV for an Intra-State Transmission Project of Maharashtra, to M/s The Tata Power Company Limited. The Tata Power Company Limited was selected as the successful bidder through the TBCB process conducted by RECPDCL for development of the transmission project on a Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) basis.
The SPV was handed over by Shri Vijay Kulkarni, Senior General Manager & Head of Department (T&D), RECPDCL, to Shri Piyush Kumar, Head BD–T&D (International), The Tata Power Company Limited, in the presence of senior officials of RECPDCL, The Tata Power Company Limited and Maharashtra STU. The implementation period of this project is also 24 months.
The scheme envisages the establishment of a 400 kV Double Circuit transmission line of approximately 115 km from Jejuri (existing) to Hinjewadi, along with other associated works.
The successful handover of these two SPVs underscores RECPDCL’s continued role as a leading Bid Process Coordinator in strengthening the transmission infrastructure of the country through transparent and competitive bidding, thereby facilitating reliable and efficient power evacuation within the State of Maharashtra.
