South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm at its Headquarters Auditorium. The event commenced with the hoisting of the environment flag by the Chief Guest, Chairman-cum-Managing Director Shri Harish Duhan, in the esteemed presence of Director (Technical – Operations & Project Planning) Shri N. Franklin Jaykumar, Director (HR) Shri Biranchi Das, Director (Finance) Shri D. Sunil Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Himanshu Jain, President of Shraddha Mahila Mandal Smt. Shashi Duhan, Vice Presidents Smt. Haseena Kumar and Smt. Vinita Jain, General Manager (Environment) Shri B.K. Jena, along with departmental heads, officers, and employees. The program commenced with the hoisting of the Environment Flag followed by the playing of the Coal India Corporate Song.
On this occasion, the “Paryavaran Darpan” magazine, which documents SECL’s environmental initiatives, was released by the dignitaries present on stage.
CMD Shri Harish Duhan administered the “Environment Pledge” to all attendees. A street play based on environmental awareness was also performed by the Agraj Natya Dal, which captivated the audience.
In his address, CMD Shri Harish Duhan extended his best wishes for World Environment Day and emphasized reducing the use of plastic in daily life. He further said that if plastic is used, it should be recycled and reused to minimize its environmental impact.
Winners of various competitions held to mark World Environment Day were felicitated during the event.
