Shri Piyush Goyal, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India, visited the headquarters of Navratna CPSE National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) at Bhubaneswar, today. On his arrival, Shri Goyal was accorded a warm welcome by the NALCO leadership. Shri Goyal planted a sapling, reaffirming the commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable mining practices. During his maiden visit to NALCO Headquarters after assuming charge as Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Govt of India, Shri Goyal chaired a review meeting in the presence of Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NALCO. He reviewed the Company’s ongoing expansion initiatives and operational performance. The meeting was attended by members of the NALCO Board, Shri Pankaj Kumar Sharma, Director (Production), Shri Jagdish Arora, Director (Projects & Technical), Dr Tapas Kumar Pattanayak, Director (HR), Shri Abhay Kumar Behuria, Director (Finance), along with other senior officials. Shri Goyal emphasized on the timely completion of expansion projects, achievement of production targets, and systematic enhancement of operational efficiency. He commended NALCO for its collective achievements and strong performance across key physical and financial parameters. Shri Goyal also encouraged the collective to continue setting new benchmarks across all spheres of its operations. Earlier in the day he also had a meeting with Chief Secretary, Odisha and other senior State Government Officials to discuss matters related to expediting NALCO’s expansion activities at its Mines & Refinery Complex in Damanjodi and Smelter & Power Complex at Angul. He also chaired a mining sector review meeting on operationalization of auctioned major mineral blocks with senior State Govt. officials, agencies of Govt. of India and preferred bidders of auctioned blocks.
