JNPT Celebrates 72nd Republic Day with Great Enthusiasm

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), India’s premier container port celebrated India’s 72nd Republic Day with fervor and passion, following all the preventive measures amended by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. The JNPort family participated in the celebrations held at the JNPT Training Centre. On arrival of the Chief Guest, Shri Sanjay Sethi, IAS, Chairman, an impressive Guard of Honour was presented by the CISF officials. The celebration then started with flag hoisting by the Chief Guest, followed by singing of the National Anthem in the presence of Shri Unmesh Sharad Wagh, IRS, Dy. Chairman, Shri Anil S Ramteke, IRSS, CVO and HoDs. Speaking at the Republic Day ceremony, Shri Sanjay Sethi, IAS, Chairman, JNPT, said, “As we celebrate our 72nd Republic Day, let us remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. Over
the years, the maritime sector has been a key contributor to the economic growth of the nation, supporting India’s vast trade in the country and as the number one container port, which handles over half of the country’s container cargo, JNPT has played a major role in shaping India’s blue-economy. JNPT stood by its commitment to the PAPs and signed a Memorandum
of Understanding (MoU) with City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) for allotment of land under the 12.5% scheme to JNPT Project Affected Persons (PAPs). On this day, I extend my gratitude and thank all our employees, trade partners, and stakeholders for their collective efforts to keep the port operational even during the ongoing pandemic.”
