Competition Commission of India Invites Applications for Two Member Posts
The Competition Commission of India has invited applications for two Member posts, with the deadline to apply set for September 28, 2026.
The Competition Commission of India has invited applications for the posts of two Members, with details of the vacancy notice published on the websites of the CCI and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
The CCI is India's statutory antitrust regulator, functioning under the Competition Act, 2002, to prevent practices with an adverse effect on competition, promote fair market conduct and protect consumer interest. Its Members sit alongside the Chairperson on the quasi-judicial bench that rules on merger approvals, cartel investigations and abuse-of-dominance cases.
Member posts at the CCI are typically filled through a selection process overseen by a search-cum-selection committee constituted by the central government, drawing candidates from law, economics, business, public administration and competition-related fields, as prescribed under the Competition Act.
The current vacancy follows a pattern of periodic Member-level churn at the CCI as earlier appointees complete their terms, which run for five years or until the age of 65, whichever is earlier.
Candidates have until September 28, 2026 to apply, giving prospective applicants roughly six weeks from the date of the notice to submit their applications through the prescribed channel.
The CCI's caseload has grown steadily with the expansion of digital-market scrutiny and merger filings in recent years, adding to the workload the incoming Members will inherit once appointed.
The vacancy notice did not specify whether the two posts arise from retirements, resignations, or an expansion of the Commission's sanctioned strength.
