IPS Officer Viswanadh R Named Superintendent of Police, NIA

Viswanadh R has been appointed Superintendent of Police at the National Investigation Agency on deputation basis. He is a 2016-batch IPS officer of the Kerala cadre.

The NIA investigates terrorism and other scheduled offences with national security implications, and draws its officer strength on deputation from state police cadres across the country. A Superintendent of Police's posting at the NIA places an officer directly on investigation teams handling cases that often span multiple states and require coordination with state police and other central agencies.

Viswanadh's move to the NIA follows the standard route through which IPS officers from state cadres are selected for central deputation to the agency, typically drawing on officers with investigative experience built up in their parent state police cadre.
