Ministry of Power to Present 'Prakash Ganga' Tableau at Republic Day Parade 2026

The Ministry of Power will present its tableau titled Prakash Ganga: Powering an Aatmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat at the Republic Day Parade on January 26, 2026, showcasing India's evolution in the power sector and its expanding role in clean and sustainable energy.

The tableau traces India's progress from achieving universal electricity access to positioning itself as a growing clean energy contributor globally, framing the display around the government's broader self-reliance and development goals for the power sector.

The theme, Prakash Ganga, translating to River of Light, is intended to represent the continuous flow of power across India's interconnected national grid, with the tableau's central design elements built around this visual metaphor of an unbroken, flowing electricity network.

A prominent feature of the tableau is a robotic Smart Meter model accompanied by wind turbine generators, intended to reflect the integration of digital technologies and automation into power management, while the central section depicts a Smart Power, Smarter Home concept featuring rooftop solar installations, highlighting the government's framing of citizens as both producers and consumers of electricity.

Additional elements include a transmission structure representing last-mile connectivity, an EV charging station, and an electric scooter, tying the power sector display to the government's clean mobility and sustainable transport initiatives, while the tableau's rear segment showcases hydroelectric, wind, and geothermal power installations to represent India's renewable energy portfolio.

A structure labelled Switching on India represents advanced grid control and monitoring centres responsible for maintaining stability and uninterrupted electricity supply, mounted on a design resembling coiled electrical cables intended to reflect the scale of India's national power grid connecting millions of households and industries.

Through the Republic Day presentation, the Ministry of Power is using the parade platform to publicly frame its work on electricity access, grid modernisation, and renewable energy expansion as part of the government's broader development and energy security agenda.
