The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the induction of E Sai Charan Tejaswi, IPS (Tamil Nadu: 2014), as Superintendent of Police in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on a lateral shift basis.

Tejaswi is currently Assistant Director at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVP NPA), the institution that trains officers of the Indian Police Service. The move takes him from a training post to an investigating agency.

His appointment will be for the balance of his combined central deputation tenure of five years, up to December 14, 2027. A lateral shift means a move from one central posting to another without returning to the state cadre, and the time already served on central deputation counts towards the five years.

The CBI draws its police officers from the IPS on deputation. Superintendent of Police is a supervisory rank in the agency, and officers of the 2014 batch are typically inducted at this level.

The ACC approved the induction as part of its routine appointment orders. Tejaswi's tenure in the CBI ends on December 14, 2027.
