Fateh Singh Meena Posted to Central Railway as Chief Project Director, Station Development

Fateh Singh Meena, an Indian Railway Service of Engineers officer presently posted in Western Railway, has been transferred to Central Railway and posted as Chief Project Director, Station Development, according to an order issued this week.

The Chief Project Director, Station Development post oversees the redevelopment and modernisation of railway stations within a zone, coordinating civil works, contractor management, and funding disbursement for projects that range from platform upgrades to full station redevelopment under schemes such as Amrit Bharat. Central Railway, headquartered in Mumbai, runs one of the busiest and most heavily used networks in the country, giving the post considerable operational weight given the scale of construction activity underway across the zone's major terminals and suburban stations.

Meena moves to the role from Western Railway, another Mumbai-based zone, giving him continuity in operating within the same broad metropolitan railway environment even as he shifts zones. His transfer keeps him within station development and project execution work rather than moving him into a different engineering specialisation, a lateral move within the same functional area but under a different zonal administration.

He was posted in Western Railway immediately prior to this transfer, a zone that, like Central Railway, serves Mumbai's dense suburban and long-distance rail network and has its own slate of station redevelopment projects underway.

The transfer is part of the routine rotation of IRSE officers across Indian Railways' eighteen zones, a practice intended to give engineering officers exposure to different operational environments and to prevent long, uninterrupted tenures in any single zone, a norm the Railways applies fairly consistently at the senior engineering level.

At Central Railway, Meena will be responsible for advancing station redevelopment projects across a network handling some of the country's highest passenger volumes, work that requires close coordination with Mumbai's dense urban infrastructure and competing land-use constraints around major stations, several of which sit on valuable urban real estate that complicates redevelopment planning.

The transfer and posting take effect as per the order issued this week.
