Tripura: Six IPS Officers Senior to Acting DGP GS Rao Are on Central Deputation

GS Rao, a 1999-batch IPS officer, holds additional charge as Director General of Police (DGP) in Tripura. The government order described him as the next senior-most IPS officer serving in the state at that time, and the arrangement was made in an emergency.

Six officers of the Tripura cadre senior to Rao are on deputation to the Centre. Rajiv Singh, 1993 batch, is Secretary (Security) in the Cabinet Secretariat. Puneet Rastogi, 1995 batch, is Special Director General, BSF. M. Raja Murugan (1996) and Saurabh Tripathi (1997) are also on central deputation.

Arvinder Singh and RS Kamble, both 1998 batch, complete the list of officers on central deputation who are senior to Rao.

With the six senior officers away on deputation, Rao is the senior-most IPS officer serving in the state.

Rao, 1999 batch, is the acting DGP.
