NALCO’S MAJOR CSR INTIATIVE Long-awaited Eye Care facility at Anugola moves closer to operationalization
Reinforcing its commitment towards quality healthcare services for the people of its peripheral villages, National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), Navratna CPSE under Ministry of Mines, Govt of India, has taken a significant step towards operationalising the Secondary Plus Eye Care Centre at NALCO Nagar, Anugola, by signing an addendum to its existing agreement with LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), Hyderabad.
It may be mentioned that NALCO, in association with LVPEI, had established the infrastructure for a modern eye care facility at Anugola with the objective of providing specialised and affordable eye care services to the region. The functioning of this state-of-the-art health care facility was delayed due certain operational challenges. However, following a comprehensive review of the project, NALCO and LVPEI, Hyderabad have proactively addressed the key bottlenecks through the signing of the addendum, thereby paving the way for the early operationalisation of the Centre within the next few months.
The addendum was signed between NALCO Foundation - the CSR wing of the NALCO and LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, in the presence of Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh, CMD, Directors of NALCO, Dr. Prashant Garg, Executive Chair of the LVPEI, and senior officials of NALCO and LVPEI at NALCO Corporate Office, today. Under the revised arrangement, NALCO Foundation and LVPEI shall undertake concerted efforts to expedite the operationalisation of the Secondary Plus Eye Care Centre. The operation and management of the upcoming centre will be entrusted to the institute, which is globally recognised for excellence in eye care services and also operates a tertiary eye care centre at Bhubaneswar.
The operationalisation of the much-awaited eye care centre is expected to significantly enhance access to specialised ophthalmic services for residents of Anugola and neighbouring districts. The facility will provide quality eye care at affordable and subsidised rates, particularly benefiting communities residing in NALCO's peripheral villages.
Upon becoming operational, the Centre is envisaged to serve as a vital regional eye care hub for Anugola, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Boudh and neighbouring districts, significantly improving access to specialized eye care services and strengthening the overall healthcare infrastructure of the region.
