Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said Vijaya Dashami symbolises new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil, highlighting a state government scheme that provides financial assistance to educated youth to start their own ventures.
In a social media post, Sarma said the festival marks Goddess Durga's victory over Mahishasura and offers an opportunity to begin new endeavours with her blessings.
"On Vijayadashami, we celebrate Maa Durga's victory over Mahishasura: the triumph of good over evil, and of courage over doubt. It is also a day of new beginnings, when we start fresh endeavours with the Mother's blessings," he said.
