REC Limited Wins ICC Gold Award for Green Energy and Efficiency Financing
REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power and one of India’s leading NBFCs, has been honored with the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Green Urja and Energy Efficiency Award.
REC Limited, a Maharatna central public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Power, has received the Gold Award in the Indian Chamber of Commerce's Green Urja and Energy Efficiency Awards, under the category recognising financial institutions for green energy and energy efficiency contributions.
The award was presented during the 14th Green Energy Summit organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce in New Delhi, with Kuldeep Rai, REC's Executive Director (Renewables), and Arun Kumar Chaturvedi, Head of Department (Renewables), receiving it on the organisation's behalf.
REC, formerly Rural Electrification Corporation, functions as one of India's leading non-banking financial companies focused on power sector financing, having expanded its lending mandate in recent years from conventional power infrastructure to include renewable energy and broader infrastructure projects.
The award recognises REC's financing activity supporting renewable energy capacity expansion and energy efficiency initiatives, an area the organisation has scaled up as part of the government's broader push to diversify power sector financing toward clean energy projects alongside traditional generation and transmission infrastructure.
REC's own corporate office has achieved GRIHA 5-Star certification and operates as a Net-Zero Energy Building, credentials the organisation has cited as evidence of energy-efficient practices applied within its own operations alongside the financing activity that earned this specific award.
The ICC Green Urja and Energy Efficiency Awards recognise organisations across sectors for measurable contributions to India's clean energy transition, with the financial institutions category specifically evaluating lenders based on the scale and structure of green energy project financing they support.
REC has continued positioning its financing activity within the government's Viksit Bharat 2047 development framework and broader sustainability goals, an alignment reflected in the organisation's growing renewable energy lending portfolio in recent years.
