NLC INDIA LIMITED CELEBRATES 80TH INDEPENDENCE DAY

NLC India Limited (NLCIL) celebrated the 80^th Independence Day of the Nation with traditional fervor and enthusiasm. Inaugurating the celebrations, Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha, IAS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal & CMD (Additional Charge), NLCIL, garlanded the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at the Township Administration Office premises in the presence of Functional Directors, Chief Vigilance Officer and senior officials of NLCIL.

Later, he hoisted the National Flag at the Bharathi Stadium in Neyveli Township. He also inspected the ceremonial parade comprising 18 platoons representing CISF, Tamil Nadu Home Guards, NCC, NSS Units, NLCIL Security & Fire Services and students from various schools. He subsequently received the Guard of Honour.

In his address, Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha, IAS, and CMD (Additional Charge)/NLCIL, paid rich tributes to all the freedom fighters who laid down their lives in India’s freedom struggle, recalling their selfless sacrifices by dedicating their lives to the cause of the Nation’s independence.

As India confidently marches towards the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, we, at NLC India, take pride in being a key contributor to this national journey, Shri Jha said. Underscoring NLCIL’s record breaking Financial and Operational performance in the last Financial Year 2025-26, CMD (Addl. Charge) pointed out how the company had achieved record milestones across every key parameter. The consolidated revenue from operations crossed ₹17,490 crore, while Profit After Tax reached an all-time high of ₹3,769 crore and Market capitalisation touched ₹53,774 crore. NLCIL also achieved 100% collection efficiency from power beneficiaries and declared the highest dividend in the last five years, reaffirming its commitment to creating value for all stakeholders, he noted.

Adding to these achievements, NLC India Limited was awarded the 'Excellent' rating by the Department of Public Enterprises for the MoU target evaluation for FY 2024–25. These accomplishments are a tribute to the dedication, professionalism and collective spirit of the entire NLCIL family and as we celebrate our Nation's Independence, these achievements inspire us to re-dedicate ourselves for building a stronger, greener and self-reliant India, Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha said.

Shri Jha highlighted the important milestones achieved during the year – Commercial operation of Unit-3 of the Ghatampur Thermal Power Project which increased NLCIL Group’s total installed generation capacity to 8,405 MW, commencing of coal production at the 9 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) Pachwara South Open Cast Coal Project, Commissioning a 50 MW Solar Power Project in the reclaimed Mine-II area, Commissioning of Mine-I “Overburden to M-Sand” Plant, securing of major Renewable Energy projects by NLCIL’s subsidiary, NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), strengthening NLCIL’s clean energy pipeline and receiving the Letter of Award for 110 MW Grid-connected Solar PV Project for the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). These milestones reflect NLCIL’s unwavering commitment to strengthening India’s energy security and building a diversified, future-ready energy enterprise, CMD (Addl.Charge) said.

Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha also pointed out that NLCIL had entered into strategic partnerships with leading National institutions and Public Sector Enterprises like Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) which enabled diversification of portfolio to create long term value.

Shri Jha proudly stated that NLCIL’s pursuit of excellence had been recognised through several prestigious awards during the year, like the prestigious 5 Star ratings by Ministry of Coal to Barsingsar Lignite Mine, Talabira II & III OCP and Mine-I, the “Governance Now” PSU Awards for overall Financial performance, excellence in profitability, Highest turnover and excellence in Learning & Development and credited the NLC India family for these recognitions.

Mentioning that the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of NLCIL continued to reflect the commitment to inclusive and sustainable development, Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha stated that over the past decade, NLCIL had invested over 604 Crore in CSR initiatives, significantly exceeding the statutory requirement and positively impacting the lives of more than seven lakh people annually across the areas of operation of the Company.

Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha also congratulated students of Neyveli for their excellent academic performances, success in competitive examinations and outstanding achievements at State and National levels across various sporting disciplines.

Asserting that NLCIL remained steadfast in its commitment to accelerating the clean energy transition, embracing digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence, fostering innovation and building a future-ready organisation, he called upon Team NLCIL to renew its collective commitment to nation-building and dedicate their efforts to creating enduring value through responsible mining, sustainable energy generation, innovation and operational excellence.

Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha placed on record his gratitude to the Minister of Coal & Mines Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Coal & Mines Satish Chandra Dubey, Secretary (Coal), Officials of the Coal Ministry, the State Governments and all stakeholders for their support to NLCIL’s projects.

Shri Jha recalled former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s quote “Dream, dream, dream. Dreams transform into thoughts and thoughts result in action” and hoped that this timeless message would inspire all to dream boldly, think innovatively and translate aspirations into action.

Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha concluded his address by stating that NLCIL would continue to uphold the values of integrity, sustainability, excellence and safety contributing to the Nation’s progress and create lasting value for generations to come.

Earlier, Shri Samir Swarup, Director (HR), welcomed the gathering.

As a gesture of goodwill, the senior most worker of NLCIL, Smt. Kasapayee, Service Worker Grade-I (General), Corporate Office, along with her spouse Shri T. Sigamani, were honoured.  Continuing the tradition of service to the differently abled community, retrofitted scooters were presented to two “Divyangs” (differently abled persons) Selvi S. Ramapriya and Shri R. Ramkumar. 

Shri Samir Swarup, Director (HR), Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya, Director (Finance), Shri Rajesh Pratap Singh Sisodia, Director (P&P) and (Power) Addl. Charge, Thiru Appakannu Govindarajan, IPoS, Chief Vigilance Officer, NLCIL and Shri Anand Saxena, DIG/CISF participated in the function and presented various awards in the category of sports, Swachh Bharat and Special Recognition Awards to the winners.

Senior officers of NLCIL, Employees, representatives of recognized Trade Unions, Associations representing Engineers, Officers and Supervisors, SC/ST Employees’ Welfare Federation, ST Employees’ Welfare Association, OBC Employees’ Welfare Association, WIPS forum and the residents of Neyveli were present in Bharathi Stadium to witness the celebrations.

Colourful cultural programmes comprising fusion song/dance by students of Sneha Opportunity School, Dance & formations to create awareness on “saving Nation by youth”, “Team work & Patriotism”, “Integrity”, “Five elements” by school students, "Bharatheeyam", a thematic group presentation by 950 students of NLC Girls Higher Secondary School with 140 formations evoking national spirit & unity and a presentation on a blend of strength and discipline performed by CISF personnel were appreciated by one and all.

As a goodwill measure, Shri Samir Swarup, Director (HR) announced that the CMD (Additional Charge) Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha, had decided to present all the school students who participated in the parade, Bharatheeyam and cultural programmes, a prize amount amounting to Rs.24.06 lakhs.

Later, Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha, CMD (Addl. Charge), accompanied by Madam CMD, Functional Directors and senior officers visited the “Ananda Illam” (Home for the elderly) and interacted with the inmates.

To mark the occasion, the Members of the Neyveli Ladies Club distributed fruits to the in-patients of the NLCIL General Hospital and wished them a speedy recovery.
